Terraced Rice Paddies

There are wonderful terraced rice paddies in the northern regions of Vietnam. Most of them have been built over generations by H'mong people who are settled in the less fruitful, mountainous north. Every year there is just one harvest of rice in the colder north, while there are 2 in the middle of Vietnam and 3-4 in the Mekong Delta. Still, the people stayed here and worked the land they have. Some rice terraces are 400 years old. They should be declared World Heritage Sites.
