Grünwald - Grünwald Castle
Revisited. Burg Grünwald near Munich is a high medieval castle of the 12th century.
The existing structure was mainly built in the late 15th century (renovation works carried out 1486–87 to celebrate the wedding of Albert IV, Duke of Bavaria with Kunigunde of Austria).
Large parts of the castle had to be removed during the 17th and 18th centuries, because the Isar river undermined the foundations.
