Break in the Rim
The Moab Rim separates Spanish Valley from the maze of curved fins in the Behind The Rocks wilderness study area. Here, a break in the rim reveals Spanish Valley and the La Sal Mountains beyond, near Moab, Utah.
When one arrives at the trailhead, the route is difficult to discern and it appears that the trail simply disappears into an off-vertical steep field of boulders and giant rocks. The trail climbs about 650 feet in 0.6 miles, and for those who enjoy Type II fun (i.e., suffering), the view you see here is the reward from the top of the climb.
