Rebirth

The setting sun gleams on the surface of the Rio Arno and makes a silhouette out of the Florentine skyline from the vantage of Piazzale Michelangelo, Tuscany, Italy.

 

After having cloned out most of the construction cranes that marred the sunset view, I imagine the city looks much as it did in the late 1500s when it incubated the finest minds of the region and fostered an explosion of artistic and scientific ideas. These works went on to shape the foundation of the world in which we now live, a world in which people strive to understand the nature of being, and the workings of the laws of nature. Interestingly, we currently live in a time in which the scientific method itself has lost some of its lustre, and scientists, climate scientists in particular, are questioned for practicing a system of logic, experiment, and model building. The very things Leonardo da Vinci perfected some years ago...
