Very high mountains

This week I thought I would see how well the latest version of Photoshop handled very old and very small images, and I have to say I thought the results were not bad.

This is a view of Cho Oyu, as seen from Gokyo Ri in Nepal. It is the sixth-highest mountain in the world at 8,188 metres (26,864 ft) above sea level. Cho Oyu means "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan. The mountain is the westernmost major peak of the Khumbu sub-section of the Mahalangur Himalaya 20 km west of Mount Everest. The mountain stands on the China–Nepal border, between the Tibet Autonomous Region and Koshi Province. Apparently it is the easiest of the 14 8,000 metre peaks to climb - but I wouldn't know, this is the closest I got! Gokyo Ri is a much smaller peak, 5357m (17,575 ft) and you get there by trekking up from the small village of Gokyo. Gokyo is apparently the highest human settlement in the world at 4750m (15,584 ft). We camped there the night before, and woke up to the tent being covered in several inches of snow...

No sliders were abused in the creation of this image, the sky really is that blue when you are that high up. It is lterally breath-taking, only partly due to the lack of oxygen....
