CliffMuller says: like the pleasant lighting and the manner in which the shelving in the background falls away in the unexpected. Pleasing composition overall...

CliffMuller says: like the warm tones and the engaged expression on the subjects face. The lamp in the background provides nice balance to the off-center subject and lends additional warmth to the scene

CliffMuller says: nice composition and unusual framing. The subject's pose is slightly uncharacteristic for interaction with the library shelf, but the angle of his arm draws attention to the face and makes this work. There's almost a "spy-like" quality to this which I like...

CliffMuller says: The shirt, the shirt. I like the humor, but the framing of this portrait is just a natural for a library setting.

CliffMuller says: The composition with the foreground books is really nice and it works well to have the open page edge of the stack of books facing the camera rather than the bindings - which may be more of a distraction. CliffMuller says: Very nice portrait. Black and white is also a good choice to highlight the many textures here: the sweater, couch, hat, facial hair. The placement of the eyes in relation to the top of the dark background bookcase work really well -- light face with dark bookcase framed by dark hat against light wall/ceiling background.

CliffMuller says: Humorous composition. This probably won't make the cut for my senior portrait, but it's just plain FUN and I love it!

CliffMuller says: A nice example of the quintessential library shot -- shooting through an opening in the books. This really works because there's the sense you're catching a private moment that we were not intended to see. As an intentional portrait, I might need to add a small fill flash on the shelf in front of the subject to eliminate shadows, but this is still a great example.
