Pencil Reflections [EXPLORE 24-05-15]

As it was a grey day today & after seeing some great macro shots on here, I thought I would have a go myself, unfortunately I don't own a Nikon mount macro lens but still have my old Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Pentax K mount macro lens.

To use the lens you need to do everything manually, I used a Pentax – Nikon lens mount adapter then set the aperture ring on the lens to the desired f-stop then programed the settings for a non cpu lens into the camera (i.e. focal length 105, aperture f/11)

I used two tripods one to hold the pencil! A remote release plus my flash mounted on a light stand with Yongnuo wireless flash triggers.

Manual focus and lots of patience to add the water drop to the end of the pencil.

Pure luck! that the flash helped to add a star burst..

Not perfect but happy with my 1st attempt, I now have lots of ideas for some more…
