Oeuvre de Salvador Escrig Melchor en 1840, la Plaza Redonda est un des sites touristiques singuliers de Valencia, en raison de sa construction très particulière. Réhabilitée en 2012, cette place est devenue l’un des lieux de la ville qui ont le plus de charme. Elle est entourée de commerces d’artisanat traditionnels et de bars à tapas en rez-de-chaussée, mais est également peuplée d’étals qui offrent notamment des dentelles, des broderies, des tissus ou des souvenirs de Valencia. L’accès à la place se fait à pied par quatre rues qui convergent en un espace accueillant, lumineux et duquel, si l’on se place au niveau de la fontaine située en son centre, on peut avoir une nouvelle et magnifique vue sur le clocher de style baroque rococo de Sainte Catherine, qui se dresse sur les trois étages de l’édifice circulaire. Et l’on peut lire au sol une citation de l’écrivain valencien Vicente Blasco Ibáñez qui fait référence à ce lieu dans son œuvre Arroz y Tartana (Riz et tartane).

Rehabilitated in 2012, this square has become one of the most charming places in the city. It is surrounded by traditional craft shops and tapas bars on the ground floor, but is also populated by stalls that offer, among other things, lace, embroidery, fabrics or souvenirs from Valencia. Access to the square is on foot through four streets that converge in a welcoming, bright space and from which, if you stand at the level of the fountain located in its center, you can have a new and magnificent view of the Baroque Rococo bell tower of Saint Catherine, which stands on the three floors of the circular building. And we can read on the ground a quote from the Valencian writer Vicente Blasco Ibáñez who refers to this place in his work Arroz y Tartana (Rice and Tartan).
