Approximately 80% of cancer cases are caused by environmental factors. In other words, cancer is preventable for the vast majority of people. With the proper knowledge, vigilance, and some commitment most people can prevent and cure cancer.
Consider that one fifth of all cancers worldwide are caused by a chronic infection, for example human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and hepatitis B virus (HPV) causes liver cancer. Many of these infections are preventable, even curable and if treated could bring down the amount of cancer cases seen per year. The WHObelieves that 30% of the world’s cancer cases could be avoided.
I know not only Simona but another case (the mom of my dear friend Dora) where by treatment and eating only vegetables (firs not cooked at all later more and more as we like it) cancer regressed. So there is defiantly a lot of hope. Doctors did not believe it when first happened but now more medical stuff learned that is it so true.
The WHO makes no qualms about the fact that in the absence of timely intervention, cancer can claim the lives of 84 million people worldwide between 2005 and 2015, with the low and middle-income countries bearing the brunt as compared to the industrialized ones. If that’s not all, the burden of cancer is estimated to double by 2020 and nearly triple by 2030. According to the forecasted figures for 2030, there are likely to be 20-26 million fresh cancer diagnoses and 13-17 million cancer related deaths. China, Russia, and India need to watch out and tackle the growing burden of cancer, attributed mainly to increase in use of tobacco, fatty diets, adoption of western habits, and demographic changes.
