Les moulins de Kerouat à Commana
Le hameau de Kerouat est situé près de Commana, au fond d'une petite vallée verdoyante, au coeur des "Monts d'Arrée", au centre de la Bretagne.
Le premier moulin à eau fut bâti par des moines en 1610.
Le village qui est devenu en 1969 l'écomusée des monts d'arrée est remarquablement conservé.
Il permet de se replonger dans la vie rurale bretonne du 19ème siècle.
Les derniers occupants du hameau, Jeanne-Yvonne et Jean-François Fagot, ont disparu en 1961 et 1965. Ils ont laissé une maison telle que leur ancêtre l'avait construite en 1831. Ils étaient les derniers maillons d’une longue lignée de meuniers, née au XVIIe siècle avec Paul Keriel, premier meunier connu à Kerouat.
The hamlet of Kerouat is located near Commana, at the bottom of a small green valley, in the heart of "Monts d'Arrée", in the center of Brittany.
The first water mill was built by monks in 1610.
The village which became in 1969 the Ecomuseum of the Monts d'Arrée is remarkably preserved.
It allows to dive back into the Breton rural life of the 19th century.
The last occupants of the hamlet, Jeanne-Yvonne and Jean-François Fagot, disappeared in 1961 and 1965. They left a house as their ancestor built it in 1831. They were the last links of a long line of millers , born in the 17th century with Paul Keriel, the first miller known in Kerouat.
