Beauty & Truth (Ceci n'est pas ... )

12 by 12 #6: "Try to tell the truth by taking photographs that lie about it." - Max Pinckers

What is the truth and what is the lie here?

As soon as we make a picture, we are presenting a subjective reality because we are selecting what to include, and what to exclude. We can lie by presenting something in a different context or by what we omit. When one scrutinises something up close, does that give us a more truthful view of it because we see more of the details or a less truthful view because we lose the sense of context and perspective - the big picture?

Is the truth here that we are looking at a rusty, oil stained metal tank or a thing of beauty, created by randomly by the elements?
