Taking the lead

On a sleepy bank holiday monday morning, just before 10 am, the Dublin Port tug "Beaufort" assists HMS Brocklesby off her berth on Sir John Rogersons Quay & down the River Liffey.

 

HMS Brocklesby, a Hunt-class mine counter-measures vessel of the British Royal Navy on a courtesy visit to Dublin over the weekend.

 

Brocklesby is the first naval visitor to Dublin in 2023 & one of the few since covid restrictions since 2020. She is celebrating 40 years in service, her primary purpose is to seek out and neutralise enemy mines using sonar technology, currently under the command of Lieutenant Commander Matthew Teare.

 

Arriving on Friday 3rd & departing on Monday 6th, which is a new public holiday in Ireland, celebrating Saint Brigid.
