With the relative weakness of stormtroopers, the Empire decided to train a new breed of trooper, one with excellent weaponry and the ability and intelligence to wield it well. Thus came the Spec Ops trooper, a well-armored trooper who would be a difficult match even for a jedi with his durasteel-strengthened vibro-blade sword. They also carry blaster rifles that the troopers use to kill enemies either up close or from afar.
