Weekly photo competition runner up, 23 November 2012: a radiant smile for nutritious maize
Dennis Friesen, consultant to the Nutritious Maize for Ethiopia (NuME) Project, is one of two runners up this week in our photo competition for CIMMYT staff and friends. His joyful image shows Madame Dadhitu Olkaba, a female head of household near Ambo, Ethiopia, in her on-farm demonstration plot of the highland QPM variety AMH760Q. This is the QPM version of BH660 developed by Strafford Twumasi-Afriyie and his colleagues at the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) Ambo Research Center. This variety (among others) is a focus of promotional efforts of the CIDA-funded Nutritious Maize for Ethiopia (NuME) project launched this year.
