Ponies in the paddock
The village of Birchover nestling amongst the trees.
The Peak District National Park, whose designation in 1951 made it the first national park in the British Isles, covers an area of around 555 square miles. The villages and all of the buildings in the park are under tight planning controls in order to preserve their historic appearance. There are no UPVC windows and doors anywhere within the park!! It all makes for harmonious and attractive villages which look timeless.
