The village of Litton

The square hole in the wall on the right is the old door into the coal-house. The coal would be tipped in the street or delivered in bags, and it had to be shovelled through this hatch into the coal house. A full size door within the yard of the house would be opened to gain access to the coal inside.

Life used to be very tough before the invention of central heating radiators 😓

We noted the date 1633 AD above the door of the first cottage.
