A Long, Lonely Road

Soda Lake Road on the Carrizo Plain. It's the main road on the Carrizo Plain and is 45 miles (72 km) long, 20 miles (32 km) of which are unpaved.

 

Soda Lake is a shallow alkaline lake at the north end of the Carrizo Plain. It has no drainage outlet.

 

The Carrizo Plain is a large enclosed grassland plain in southeastern San Luis Obispo County, California. It contains the Carrizo Plain National Monument and is the largest single native grassland remaining in California. It's widely known for its spring wildflowers.
