Subarus Save Lives

My partner experienced a brutal wreck on Monday, July 6th, 2015 in her MY13 Subaru Impreza Sedan where the driver of a heavy-duty pickup truck traveling West bound at 40-45 mph, ran a red light and met two other cars traveling South bound at the same speed. This is the result. The car on the inside South bound lane was collected first and pushed into her in the center lane (the cause of the damage at the driver's door) as she simultaneously made contact with the pickup's passenger-side front quarter-panel and bumper causing massive damage to her car. The chaos continued on for another 15 feet as the truck dragged all three into a median with enough force to destroy both of its front tires and bend the steel wheels.

Notice how there is zero penetration into the cabin and the windshield remains completely unscathed. The engine was broken off of its driver-side mount and pushed toward the firewall, but the Subaru's excellent crumple zones stopped it in its tracks.

These Imprezas may not be the flashiest, nor most luxurious entry-level sedans on the road, but they certainly occupy the top tier of automotive safety and crash suitability. Apart from being rocked by the airbags, some stiffness/soreness in the neck and shoulders and a contusion in the tissue around her collarbone from the seat belt retracting at the moment of impact, she walked away unharmed and will be buying another Subaru this weekend.
