Rock Island GP7 1295

Rock Island Railroad GP7 1295 at Lincoln, Nebraska on an unknown day in July 1963, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built in October 1953 ( c/n 18727 ) on EMD Order 5156, it was rebuilt to GP7R 4463 and sometime during 1981 it became C&NW 4138. The second unit in this photo is number 1299 and both the 1295 and 1299 were equipped with steam generators, which forced the air reservoir tanks to the roof. For the record, the last unit is GP7 1284.
