The Audax

Just when I thought I was done shooting jumping spiders for the year, a large unmistakable silhouette comes into view across the glass kitchen door while I was eating lunch. I raise up the shade and see this beast of a jumper getting some sun on the baked glass. It couldn't have been easier, opened the door, and later the next night took a series of shots before releasing it back into the wild.

This jumping spider is similar to the last audax I posted, but was larger and had brilliant white patches instead of orange. Found in nearly the same location, makes me wonder if it molted into this beauty. Perhaps I'll find another even larger audax. We'll see!

This was shot vertical format about 2.5x and is stacked from several shots.

More to come...but hitting Wings Over Houston Airshow this Sunday so won't be on for a while.
