When you think “Victoria” and “Waterfalls”, images of amazing drops in the Otways; Hopetoun, Marriners and Beauchamp, come to mind. Or for some, the more familiar of the Yarra Ranges; Steavenson, Toorongo and Keppel. All are amazing places, and most quite easy to access. But for the more adventurous leave a little to be desired.
This past Grand Final Day with a light mist falling throughout the day, Nathan led Rob and I deep into the Yarra Ranges. No track ribbons, no paved paths or GPS guide to mark the way. Just an occasional goat track and a river to lead us as we pushed through the thicket. Until finally we made it through to a clearing and saw this:
The most pristine, green, untouched cascades that I have ever seen. Nathan has dubbed them “Royal Falls”.
