Christmas Parade in Summerside

Last night, it seemed like most of the Summerside population turned out to line the streets of downtown for the annual Christmas Parade. I went with my wife, my daughter and my granddaughter, all of whom kept me busy and engaged. I did, however, manage to nab a few quick images using the Canon EOS R and my Laowa Argus 35mm FFII f/0.95 lens at f/0.95. I was shotting handheld so having fast glass was imperative. I also quite enjoy the challenge of manual focus in dim conditions. In this case, I was successful in capturing a colourful old vehicle bedecked with Christmas lights and bows. While it was very dark out, I was still able to focus on the people in the car as it drove past.

This is not an AI generated image, however, I did use Lightroom's AI driven noise reduction algorithm to eliminate some of the image noise from the original raw file. The photo was shot at 3200 ISO, f/0.95, and 1/60th of a second. The lack of image stabilization in the EOS R didn't help matters. In retrospect, I probably would have been better served by the Olympus E-M1 with its 25mm f/1.2 Pro. I have generally gotten better results from the Olympus in similar situations in the past. That said, I do like the "character" offered up by the Laowa lens and I enjoyed the challenge.
