Short SC.5 Belfast C1 XR371 XR370 XR367 XR368 Kemble 22-10-76

RAF Belfasts seen lined up at 5 MU Kemble awaiting disposal after withdrawal from service.

 

XR371: c/n SH1825, the last Belfast built, named "Enceladus". Preserved at RAF Museum Cosford.

 

XR370: c/n SH1824, named "Ajax". Sold to Rolls-Royce, flown to Hucknall on 3-8-78 and scrapped on 4-7-79.

 

XR367: c/n SH1821, named "Heracles". Sold on 1-8-78 to Rolls-Royce, who sold it on as G-BFYU on 13-11-78. It later carried the class "B" marks G-52-15. It was withdrawn from use on 27-6-92 and used for spares at Southend, before being scrapped on 13-6-01.

 

XR368: c/n SH1822, named "Theseus". Became G-BEPS on 6-4-77, and later carried the class "B" marks G-52-13. It last flew on 30-4-01 when it was delivered to Southend for storage, and was scrapped during November 2008.
