Lurid Bolete - Suillellus luridus

An unexpected discovery in the carpark at work was this magnificent Bolete mushroom.

 

I don’t often drive in so I could easily have missed it, when I looked again this morning they have all finished and gone over.

 

Also didn’t expect them so early in the year, you tend to associate fungi with Autumn.

 

First time I’ve seen this species, the underside is a bright orange/red and the markings on the stem help identify it
