Bad to the bone

Well not really, but with those colours, they should be. Collared Aracari - a member of the Toucan family.

I think this is my favourite bird from my recent trip to Costa Rica. I love the look of them with amazing 'spells danger' colours, but also their attitude - moving around the rainforest like a street gang driving almost everything before them.

This particular shot was taken at a frog / snake workshop, which didn't appeal too much, so I found a great spot to photograph birds instead. With bright sun, but a really dense canopy, if a bird landed on the right branch - it would be in almost a spotlight.

Taken in the Carribean Foothills, Costa Rica.
