What long wings you have!
Although body wise, very similar to a Barn Owl in size, a Short Eared Owl's wings are much longer. If anyone knows why - please let me know?
They seem to hunt in a similar fashion to Barn Owls, but perhaps the longer wings are an advantage when it comes to migration to and from their breeding grounds? Barn Owls as far as I am aware, tend to stay in one place, normally quite near to where they were hatched.
Taken in Cambridgeshire.
