Chris Radcliff says:The best part of any SpaceUp is meeting the amazing attendees. Emily Lakdawalla writes for The Planetary Society, but she also creates model spacecraft by stitching through 3D backing.
Chris Radcliff says:As expected, attendee-led sessions were the heart of SpaceUp. Even the smallest room (or "pod") was usually packed full of people in animated conversation about all kinds of space topics, from business plans to Moon colonies.
Chris Radcliff says:Everyone was welcome at SpaceUp. We encouraged the younger attendees to make a spaceship of their own out of LEGO and craft materials.
Chris Radcliff says:The young-at-heart also made their own spaceships. It was wonderful to see the world's top rocket engineers let their imaginations run wild.
Chris Radcliff says:Some of the sessions were webcast live on Spacevidcast and watched by space enthusiasts around the world. Ben and Cariann from Spacevidcast held their live weekly show from Pod One on Sunday afternoon.
Chris Radcliff says:Even meals and our party at Pangea Bakery were a chance to share space knowledge. Jesse Clark got the Surface table set up with Google Mars software, and Doug Ellison from NASA JPL gave guided tours.
