UP 1481 Colorado Springs 7 Jun 20

UP 1481 is the power for the UP Colorado Springs Local, seen here with an old DRGW shoving platform resting for the weekend in its namesake downtown.

The only reason I have this heavily-cropped, iPhone snap shot is this was the first tiny wing UP unit I've gotten a chance to shoot.

Shooting the UP local power downtown in the afternoons used to be a breeze as you only had a chain link fence with some holes that you could easily shoot through. However, at some point, as you can see here, they added in another layer of fencing, this one more of an anti-people, anti-climb type with teeny tiny holes that you can't shoot through. They put that newer fence up to keep the homeless from walking back and forth across the tracks here, but that's all for naught...they peeled back a portion of it that they can walk through a little ways down to the right here. Anyway, there just happened to be a pile of gravel here that afforded me the opportunity to shoot over the fencing, and, since I didn't have my real camera gear with me, the iPhone had to do. So I got my first set of tiny wings, avoided getting stabbed, and didn't catch Hep C from anybody...
