BNSF 1659 USAFA 23 Mar 20

BNSF 1659 and BNSF 1993 lug a tiny Pikes Peak Local through the U.S. Air Force Academy, CO.

Back to the way things should be with a pair of Cascade Green SD40-2s on the PPL! But this train didn't always look like this on its trip south from Denver. At one point, a pair of GEVOs were up front and then at another point it had an ACe leader. Fortunately those coal units were dropped off at Big Lift and Castle Rock respectively long before the train made it to me!

EDIT: On 17 Apr 2020, word came that that day's northbound run would be the last of the PPL and that the train would be abolished. As such, this is my last ever shot of the PPL, a train that ran for DECADES on the Joint Line. Sadly, it looks like that tradition is gone...but I'm glad my final version had a pair of Cascade Green legends!
