BNSF 1659 Spruce 30 Dec 19

All Cascade Green as BNSF 1659 and BNSF 1933 bring the southbound Pikes Peak Local through Spruce, CO at the location of the old ATSF/DRGW crossover. It's been a little bit since the crossover was removed...going on 102 years ago...but the remnants, including the abutment I was standing on to get this shot, are still visible.

As a kid growing up in central Pennsylvania in the '80s, I never thought I'd get to see Cascade Green SD40-2s in person because all I ever saw was solid consists of Conrail blue. Not that I'm complaining about Conrail blue one bit; I just literally never saw a foreign locomotive on any train on the line out my back window in all my years growing up.

Photoshop alert: I erased a giant power pole shadow/eyesore in the foreground as well as my car...I left the rescue ACe on the stub track though!
