BNSF 1659 USAFA 26 Dec 19
BNSF 1659 and 1933 lead the southbound Pikes Peak Local through the U.S. Air Force Academy, CO just east of Falcon Stadium.
This is an interesting and not-often-seen location along the Joint Line. In addition to the single-track Main, you can also see two stub tracks, one of which is literally pressed right up along the base of the ballast of the Main. These stub lines have rail that was made nearing 100 years ago. As of this shot, there was a couple of gons on the middle track. Interestingly, these stubs also have signals on the south side where they join onto the Main.
