BNSF 1665 Palmer Lake 18 Jul 19

BNSF 1665 and BNSF 1653 lead a southbound Pikes Peak Local off the Palmer Divide as they descend out of Palmer Lake, CO toward their final destination of Colorado Springs.

A matching pair of SD40-2s look pretty good in the H3 scheme. Hard to believe that scheme, The Wedge or Swoosh, is coming up on its 15th anniversary next year. Has it been that long?!? My word.

This angle is rapidly losing its shoot'ability as those Ponderosa Pine Trees are starting to get a bit too tall. In fact, the one under the lead unit's rear truck had to be digitally pruned in Photoshop. I think I can get a little higher elevation directly behind me, but I figured in this instance some quick cloning would be less effort!
