UP 3985 Cheyenne 14 Oct 10

Challenger homeward-bound! UP 3985 creeps west on the last leg of the "Missouri River Eagle" tour.

Unfortunately, this monster was only doing maybe 10mph here running on the heels of a manifest, although you can't really tell that from the photo. I was hoping for some track speed action to compare with my expereince of the UP 844, but with this being one of the last times this unit ran the mains, I'll take what I can get! Prior to this move, the UP 3985 hadn't been out since 2008, and from what I can find online, it doesn't look like she'll be out for quite some time! So it was totally worth burning a day of leave to head up to Cheyenne to grab a couple of shots.

This train was running late, but I was able to pass the time by shooting a string of westbounds. I was surprised there wasn't more "foam" action here like I experienced earlier in the year when UP 844 headed east, but I certainly wasn't complaining...
