BNSF 1929 Castle Rock 4 Mar 19

BNSF 1929 and a sister SD40-2 have brought the southbound Pikes Peak Local with a meager 2 flat cars to a stop at MP 36 just south of Castle Rock, CO.

Just behind me, the signal at CP 36.3 is showing red due to MoW track work in Larkspur. I was hoping the PPL would stop a little farther south than it did, but it was underway again about 45 minutes later when Main 1 cleared up and I the chase resumed.

To the right you can see the construction and traffic of The Gap Project, an effort to add another lane of I-25 in each direction between Monument and Castle Rock. It'll be another 3 whole years before the 17-mile project will be finished. Until then, it'll be a rolling dumpster fire...
