BNSF 1601 Sedalia 18 Feb 19

A pair of H1 SD40-2s throttles up as they bring the southbound Pikes Peak Local up the grade in Sedalia, CO.

 

This train was running on the blocks of a preceding coal train, which was nice in that it made it easy to chase.

 

As you can see, BNSF 1601 is a victim of some taggers who mindlessly painted smiley faces on the nose. Fortunately, the wagon wheel nose herald is mostly unscathed. The brooms are there in anticipation of another dumping of snow overnight on this particular day. It had snowed south of here the evening prior and the Pikes Peak region was enjoying the calm before Round 2 hit...
