BNSF 1601 Larkspur 18 Feb 19
BNSF 1601 leads the southbound Pikes Peak Local out of Larkspur, CO. The famed ATSF bridge that draws most of the attention in Larkspur is directly behind me...but this view is often overlooked in favor of the bridge shot.
BNSF 1601 is no stranger to the Pikes Peak Local or to me. I caught it in Larkspur leading the northbound version going on 9 years ago when it was running under its previous road number (BNSF 6720) as seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/chris_paulhamus/8576214151/
Other than a few documented excursions into Nebraska and Wyoming, the 1601 has called Colorado home for those past 9 years. Somehow it's avoided the Swoosh, but, sadly, it wasn't able to avoid some smooth-brain taggers who got the nose...
