BNSF 1961 Monument 10 Apr 17
BNSF 1961 and BNSF 2700 lead the Pikes Peak Local south out of Monument, CO and under the relatively new Baptist Road overpass.
Quite the change in scenery here over the past couple of years. They have put in a whole new community over my left shoulder here, and the single at-grade crossing that served this area was replaced by this new overpass. The old grade crossing used to be where the first hopper is, and they recently removed the crossing signals and arms. Even though there was no more vehicle traffic at the crossing, trains would still blow their horn...but no more. Just like Cascade Green transitions to H3 orange, so it is with the landscape...
