BNSF 551 Sedalia 30 May 16

BNSF 551 leads the twice-weekly Pikes Peak Local though Sedalia, CO on a brilliant Memorial Day.

Well, this was a win-lose. Win for the fact that I actually caught the Pikes Peak Local (I'm usually working when it runs), lose for the fact that it was fronted by about the least interesting power they use on this train (usually run with some sort of Geep, SD60M, SD40-2, SD40, or B40-8). A B40-8W in Warbonnet? All day, son. A B40-8W in Heritage II? Zzzzzzzzzz.

My intentions were to chase the PPL south to Colorado Springs if it had favorable power, but when I saw it in this configuration coupled with the fact it stopped in Castle Rock to do some work, I called it a day, happy to have gotten the red snoot SD40-2 in Big Lift and an ACe earlier in the morning.
