Staffa
Staffa is an island in the Inner Hebrides which lies about 10 km west of Mull and is cared for by the National Trust for Scotland. It is an important breeding ground for fulmars, common shags, and puffins. It is designated as a national nature reserve and a site of special scientific interest.
The island is entirely volcanic and consists largely of hexagonal basalt columns similar to those found at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. This photograph shows some of these basalt columns as seen when looking along the coast of the island.
