Watching the fête nationale fireworks in Forcalquier
The fête nationale is celebrated on 14 July each year in France. It commemorates (amongst other things) the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; hence, in English speaking countries, it is often referred to simply as "Bastille Day".
This is a photo taken during the 14 July fireworks in Forcalquier, but instead of a photograph of the fireworks themselves, this is a photograph of the crowd watching the fireworks.
Looking at it now - with everybody looking in the same direction and the slightly strange color cast by the fireworks - it has a bit of the feel of Peter Blake's cover for The Beatles album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" about it.
