Lupin Delight

I just got back from a short trip to Lake Tekapo. I've been wanting to catch the lupins for a few years now but in the past I've been there at the wrong time (me in Autumn, lupins late spring/early summer).

So this year I made a trip specifically to get a shot or two of these colourful flowers, which normally are at their best this time of year. However when I arrived I was struggling to find the blankets of lupins I'd seen in other photos, and the locals informed me they were late this year due to a dry winter. Damn, I thought, this was going to be a wasted trip in terms of getting my lupin shot.

Disappointed, I went for a drive and luckily I found this patch a few kms away which also offered a reasonable view of the lake, so at least I had one spot to shoot from. Wind (nature's, not mine) was the other problem as it's been blowing hard all over the country recently (typical spring I guess) and causing the lupins the move around like crazy, but thankfully it died down enough for me to get this shot just before sunset.
