1. choppyRocks…origin….My DH calls me choppy ( if you say my real name real fast, it sounds like that). Rocks because I used to make and sell jewellery in Hong Kong. choppyRocks was my trade name. Rocks also remind me of the sea.
2. I'm genetically a mutt, just like my doggies, mum's from Japan and dad's from Malaysia, married to a Brit, living the life of a nomad, though we have no control where our next oasis will be. Costa Rica is our 5th country in 11 years.
3. I inherited a very tall family, being the shortest at 5'3", I have a terrible complex.
4. I'm a last minute. com girl, but brilliant at last minute!…even for my own wedding. Nothing organised ( no location, no cards sent…. nada) up till 5 weeks before wedding. DH got so stressed out, bollocked me to no end when he returned from his business trip to find me in front of TV watching Helen Mirren's Prime Suspect (great series, by the way!). He's used to my laziness now…..
5. I chose our fave pool bar to have our reception….my folks blackmailed me into having a Chinese tea ceremony there.
6. Love my 2 Turkish doggies to bits…I listen to them at all times except when I'm walking them.
7. I love the sea too much…spent all my savings just on diving when I was single and working. My entire family dives now…
8. I've a degree in Chemistry…..ha!
9. When I'm stressed, which is always, I dream strange dreams, shout in my dreams and I'm a teeth grinder. I have 2 teeth guards. That's why I love my DH very much.
10. I'm very forgetful, have a list for everything, which I forget to use.
11. I have 2 tiny tattoos…a seahorse and a manta ray.
12. My hair is long and looks deceivingly healthy, but it's actually porous due to long term damage from diving. How do I know? before my wedding, my hairdresser refused to perm it for me, so I went to a different hairdresser, he burnt 75% of it. They turned white. Both me and my DH cried.
13. I can be clever with some stuff like techie stuff and cooking, incredibly stupid at others like can't get my head around 3 Spanish words - ajos ( garlic), ojos ( eyes), and ojas ( leaves)….after a year and a half in CR.
14. I love languages...I speak 6 + (2 x 0.5) languages. Reading is another matter.
15. I know what's the secret ingredient difference between Worcestershire sauce in UK and US….bugged me for a week. Yes, I'm obsessive and compulsive that way.
16. I crave planting my roots and never ever having to move again… with a patch of peonies in my garden, ideally in UK, so I don't have to water my plants and finally, never having to fly my doggies again.
17. Last place to see before I die…Galapagos islands.
It's only 2 hours flight to the nearest airport from Costa Rica. But the water is too cold for me, and a week's diving trip there costs US$5000/pax. Thats why it's a wish.
