Mclaren MP4/4 4.0
LSB 2025-4
Here is my final build for this mini-series for now. While it pushes the definition of a speeder-bike to just being more of a speeder in general (especially given it's based on an F1 car, rather than a bike) I'm really pleased with the end result.
I took inspiration from Mummy Fei's Dragonfly Racing and went through several iterations where things just felt a bit off. After being gifted the Mclaren MP4/4 set, I had a go at combining the two aesthetics into what you see here. I won't pretend to know anything about F1 or aerodynamics, but I like to think some of this makes sense in a future reality.
I started with the nose, shortly after deconstructing my Solaroid 05 as I'd bought the white blades for a speeder of some kind and really wanted to make something that looked sleek. I got stuck on the intakes for several months, ending with these CCBS shells that do a reasonable job of mimicking the shaping and light-weight look I was going for. The longer I look at it the more I can see it split into the three timescales I built it in, being the nose, the cockpit, and the tail/winglets - each slightly too different in their design language to merge into a cohesive final product, but maybe that's just me overanalysing, having had this on my desk for several months and struggling with the final presentation. On that note I must say, I don't like the background, but it's good enough to share.
Oh, and I did think of adding a windshield so the pilot doesn't get hit by debris, but couldn't find a piece that maintained the feel of the rest of the model.
