AE_Antler_prominence
A loop filament (above center) and a prominence (right center, at Sun's limb) in hydrogen alpha (h-alpha) light. A small sunspot group is at lower left. This photo is a combination of many frames of an avi image sequence made on June 5, 2005, using a Coronado SolarMax 90 solar telescope. If the Earth were in this photo, it would be about the size of the gap in the "antlers" at right. The Sun is 109 times the diameter of the Earth. Never view the sun directly, with or without optical aid!
