M9_RILLES_CATENAE_ERATHOSTHENES
Catenae are chains of craterlets that seem to be related in long strands. They are generally formed as secondary impacts from larger craters. Those to the left of Eratosthenes in this view surround the great crater Copernicus. Eratosthenes, about 60 km in diameter, it as the southern end of the arm of the Montes Appenines, which forms the southern "shore" of Mare Imbrium. Sinus Aestuum is at lower right. Image is a Registax-processed stack of 200 frames from a ToUCam Pro 840K, using a 2.5X Televue Powermate and Stellarvue 152mm apo.
Scope and mount supplied by 3RF (see www.3rf.org).
