m37_Maurolycus

Maurolycus is a long-time favorite of mine. It's the largest crater in this view. On its lower right flank, at about 5 o'clock, is a famous bright feature. This is the only image I've ever made of the crater that shows the tiny craterlet that formed the bright feature on the rim. Barocius and its related craters are at 6 o'clock, just touching Maurolycus. Clairault is the crater below and left of Barocius. Notice that Maurolycus itself is overlaid on another (unnamed) crater. Image is a Registax-processed stack of 600 frames from a ToUCam Pro 840K, using a 2.5X Televue Powermate and Stellarvue 152mm apo.
