This shows the difference in frame size between the two cameras. I did not correct for image rotation in this slide, and the difference is about 28 degrees, so the crater indicated looks to be a different shape when, in fact, it's just rotated.
You can see that to cover the same area with the smaller camera would require about 9 images in a mosaic, which is a great deal more work. Not only do you need a program like Autostitch to combine the frames in the mosaic, but you also must process all the sub-images in exactly the same way to prevent variations in clarity, brightness, and contrast across the mosaic.
