6.88-day Moon

This is a stack of eleven 6.2-megapixel frames from my Pentax istDS digital SLR, through the Stellarvue SV152 refractor. Focal length is 1,200mm and shutter speed was 1/750th second. Processing in Registax 3 was limited to moderate Gaussian wavelets and conversion to grayscale from color, plus a bit of a gamma tweak (s-curve) to bring out the bright lunar rays, but nothing severe. This is totally different from my usual webcam or firewirecam imaging and is the first full-frame Moon shot I've done with the DSLR. Focus is the most difficult part. I also made a mosaic at 4X this magnification, using a Televue Powermate but the processing and stitching is taking forEVer ... so, maybe tomorrow ...
