M42-with-Orionid

This is a 30-second focus exposure made through 3RF's SV152 apochromat using a Pentax istDS. The squiggly line running from upper right toward lower center is an Orionid meteor we did not see naked-eye while the exposure was running. We were distracted by several bright meteors, including two beautiful greenish bolides, over the course of my M42 (Orion Nebula) photo session but we did not see any cross this field of view. The winds came up while I was still trying to nail focus, so I am left with 6 good focus exposures and no longer ones! Oh, well, at least I got a meteor trail. In Large or Original size you can see the twists and turns in the trail.

Scope and AP900GTO mount supplied by 3RF (see www.3rf.org).
