Jupiter-20060316-noIRfilter-1700frs

This is a stack of the best 1,700 frames from 5 short AVIs taken within the span of about 5 minutes. That's about as long as you can go with Jupiter without its rapid rotation blurring the atmospheric features. This was made with the ToUCam III (SPC900NC), which has the same resolution as the ToUCam Pro 840K but is much more sensitive. The color difference between this and other recent Jupiter images is due to the lack of an IR filter in this one. SV152 apo at 4,800mm FL (f32). Slightly overprocessed to show maximum cloud belt detail. Alignment was one 64-pixel box centered on the planet.

My first Jupiter image to hit 1,000 views (August 11, 2007), but hardly my best. Curious ...
